Texas Execution Scheduled in 2005 Triple Killing
Texas is scheduled to execute Ker’Sean Ramey on Wednesday for his conviction in the 2005 killings of three people during an attempted robbery at a home in the city of Edna.
Ramey, 41, is set to receive a lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. If carried out, the execution would be the sixth in Texas this year, with three additional executions currently scheduled.
A jury convicted Ramey of capital murder and sentenced him to death for the killings of Samuel Roberts, 24, Tiffani Peacock, 18, and Celso Lopez, 38.
Prosecutors Say Robbery Led to the Killings
According to court records, Ramey and LeJames Norman believed cocaine was being kept at the home shared by the victims. The two men went there intending to steal the drugs but did not find any.
The victims were subsequently killed.
Norman, who lived across the street from the victims, was also convicted in connection with the case. He was executed at the same Huntsville facility on September 16, one week before Ramey’s scheduled execution.
Norman did not make a final statement before his execution, and no relatives or friends of the victims attended the event, according to authorities.
Final Appeal Challenges Conviction
Ramey’s attorneys have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene in the case.
His lawyers argue that there was no physical evidence directly connecting Ramey to the killings. They have also argued that jurors were not presented with information about his childhood, including allegations that he experienced physical abuse and grew up in poverty.
Prosecutors have argued in lower courts that Ramey has not presented grounds that would justify reconsidering his conviction or sentence.
Co-Defendant Testified Against Ramey
The case against Ramey included testimony from Norman.
About a year after testifying at Ramey’s trial, Norman pleaded guilty to capital murder and was sentenced to death.
Norman testified that both he and Ramey fired at the victims during the attack. Court records described multiple gunshot wounds suffered by all three victims.
Ramey’s defense attorneys disputed Norman’s account and argued that Norman was responsible for the shootings.
Victims Identified in the Case
The three victims were identified as Samuel Roberts, Tiffani Peacock and Celso Lopez.
Roberts suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, neck and head. Peacock was shot twice in the head, while Lopez was shot four times, including three wounds to the back of his head, according to testimony presented during the proceedings.
The case has remained active for more than two decades through appeals and legal challenges.
Ramey’s scheduled execution comes seven days after Norman was put to death for his role in the same 2005 triple homicide.
Texas Continues Executions in 2026
Ramey’s case comes as Texas continues to carry out capital punishment during 2026. The state has scheduled several executions throughout the year, making it one of the most active jurisdictions in the United States for executions.
The final outcome in Ramey’s case remains dependent on the courts’ consideration of his latest appeal before the scheduled execution.
