BANGKOK — A Bangkok court has issued an arrest warrant for Jakkaphong “Anne” Jakrajutatip, the Thai business executive and co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization, after she failed to appear for a scheduled hearing related to an ongoing fraud case.
The Bangkok South District Court announced Wednesday that Jakkaphong did not attend a required court session on Tuesday and did not provide prior notice of her absence. The court deemed her a potential flight risk and approved the warrant. A new hearing has been set for December 26.
The fraud case stems from a 2023 complaint filed by investor Raweewat Maschamadol, who alleges that Jakkaphong and her company, JKN Global Group Public Co. Ltd., misled him in the sale of corporate bonds. Raweewat claims he lost 30 million baht (approximately $930,000) as a result of the investment.
Jakkaphong was initially charged with fraud in 2023 and released on bail. Since then, JKN Global Group has faced mounting financial troubles. The media and entertainment firm defaulted on payments to investors that same year and entered debt rehabilitation proceedings with Thailand’s Central Bankruptcy Court in 2024. The company has reported liabilities totaling around 3 billion baht (roughly $93 million).
The businesswoman came into international spotlight in 2022 when JKN purchased the Miss Universe Organization from IMG Worldwide LLC. In 2023, JKN sold a 50% stake in the pageant to U.S.-based Legacy Holding Group, owned by Mexican entrepreneur Raúl Rocha Cantú.
The court’s latest order adds new pressure on Jakkaphong and her company as they continue efforts to stabilize their financial position amid ongoing legal scrutiny.
